How much do lessons cost?
A one hour lesson costs £40. Students can have either weekly or fortnightly lessons or book as you go lessons (around your work schedules etc). This way you can work around your individual needs and budget.
How regularly should lessons take place?
It can depend on your individual needs and time you have to practice etc. Some prefer a regular weekly slot but others find a one hour lesson every two weeks works well for them, allowing for practice time in between. If more or less are required this is also possible.
Is a ‘block booking’ required?
No. Many students prefer a fixed lesson slot which is usually a lesson once a week or every other week. Some students are unable to commit to a fixed slot and prefer to book lessons as they go. The Guitar Room is flexible, understanding & can accommodate this approach if it suits you better.
How do I book a guitar lesson?
To book lessons or for other enquiries including current lesson fees, please call or email Steve at the Guitar Room. If you supply your contact phone number via email then the Guitar Room will be happy to call you back.
When and how should I pay?
Lessons can be paid for either on the lesson day with cash or via bank transfer paid before, or on the day of the lesson. At least 24 hours notice is required for cancellations, as this allows time for the slot to be offered to another student. Full payment is required for same day cancellations.
Is the Guitar Room open through school holidays?
The Guitar Room continues teaching through school holidays so advance notice must be given if you are unable to make lessons during those periods.
What should I bring to a lesson?
Most of the time students just bring their guitar and study folder as all other equipment is supplied at the Guitar Room. If a student is unable to bring their own guitar to a lesson they are welcome to use one of the teaching studio’s guitars.
Where are lessons held?
Lessons are held at the Guitar Room music studio which is not far from the St Johns Road area close to local schools, with free, easy parking. For your extra comfort tea/coffee/water can be supplied.

Yes. If that is what you request. Steve has helped many students get their guitar grades including distinction passes.
Do you offer online Zoom lessons?
Yes. Online lessons are available for any guitar players wishing to benefit from Steve’s tuition expertise and experience but live further away. Also local students who can’t attend lessons due to bad weather etc can also use this option. It is important to have good internet connection to avoid dropouts etc. Online lessons must be paid for in advance.
Do you offer gift voucher guitar lessons?
Yes. They are a popular gift for guitar players whether starting out from scratch or an advancing guitar player. Once paid for you will receive a guitar lesson gift voucher with the number of pre-paid lessons written on plus a card with the contact details for the student to get in contact to book their lessons.
Can I make recordings of lessons?
Yes, although it will probably work best just to record certain parts of the lesson. Using mobile phones to video certain aspects of the lessons really helps students when they are at home and need a reminder of both the sound and the visuals of a given technique etc.
